The Latin American Journal of Extracorporeal Technology (Revista Latinoamericana de Tecnologia Extracorpórea - RLATEC), is a quarterly publication of Perfusion Line, open to the international perfusion community. The RLATEC is the first free electronic publication dedicated to the Extracorporeal Technology. It is intended to make free educational material widely available to perfusionists and other members of the surgical cardiac team. The RLATEC is dedicated to the publication of articles and other educational materials pertaining to Extracorporeal Technology and related fields of interest. Case reports, techniques, research and collective review articles are accepted for publication. Tutorials and other modalities of educational material which includes multimidia resources (except video) are also accepted for publication. "How to do it", correspondence, books review and any other type of educacional material are also featured by RLATEC.
Starting on January 1, 2000 the RLATEC has been exclusively published in the electronic version. Paper printed version of RLATEC has been discontinued in December 1999. The first six volumes of RLATEC were available only in the paper printed format.
All material submitted to the RLATEC shall include a separate file stating that presently the material is not under consideration for publication in another journal, and that the Copyrights are given to RLATEC.
RLATEC policies includes the free extension of Copyrights for translation and/or republication of any previously published material, provided that the authorship credits are retained and the material is intended for free distribution, as a part of RLATEC commitment to make as much educational material as possible, available to the perfusion community worldwide.
All materials submitted to RLATEC will be reviewed by a minimum of 2 members of the Editorial Board (EB). The EB may accept the submitted material, may suggest changes that will not alter the scientific content or may decline of its publication, provided that the material has no close links to Extracorporeal Technology and its related disciplines.
RLATEC will only accept submissions written in Spanish, Portuguese and English. Any English based material will have the originals published in the Internet Annals of Perfusion Technology and/or The Virtual Textbook of Extracorporeal Technology (or both). These materials will also be translated into Portuguese or Spanish for publication in the RLATEC.
It is preferred that the authors submit their documents by e-mail or on a 3-1/2" computer diskette, with text saved on plain text format or MS Word for Windows 97 or 2000 versions. Submission must include the address and e-mail or phone mumber of the author to whom communications should be directed.

All submitted papers must be in accordance with the following sequence:
1. Title,
2. Author(s) name(s),
3. Name and location of the institution where the work was done,
4. A list of appropriate keywords.
5. An abstract that should not exceed 250 words. Case reports and how to do it papers should have an abstract not exceeding 100 words. Letters to the Editor and Books Review do not require an abstract.
6. Text - The text should be organized in a proper sequence, such as:

6.2. Material and Methods
6.3. Results -
6.4. Discussion
6.5. References - Should be Identified in the text by arabic numerals between brackets [ ].
The style of references should follow the format outlined below:

Tables and Figures:
Tables should be placed after the end of references list. Figures should be individually saved in gif or jpg format. Legends should be sent in a separated txt file.
Note: RLATEC cannot accept printed or typed originals unaccompanied by the electronic copy.
